What is LTE ?
LTE [ Long Term Evolution ] is the latest step in moving forward from the cellular 3G services. LTE standard 3GPP . LTE is the latest standardized in the mobile network technology that produced the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technology. LTE may be reffered more formally as envolved UMTS terrestrial radio access & E-UTRAN. LTE is a project of the 3GPP, opratings under a name marked by one of the associations with in the partrnership , the Europian Telecommunication Standard Institute.
- LTE and LTE-A will be also make use of additional spectrum and multiplexing to allow it to peak higher data speeds. Data speed of LTE Advanced is as to the peak download 1 Gbits/sec and peak upload 500 Mbits/sec.
- LTE was first producced by NTT Docomo of Japan in 2001 and studies were launched by major North American Carriers as well with the Samsung SCH-r900 being the world's First LTE mobiles phone starting on 21 sepember, 2010 and Samsumg Galaxy being the world's first LTE Smartphones starting on February 10, 2011 both offered nby Metropcs and HCS thunderbolt offered by Verizon startings on March 17 being tyhe second LTE smartphones to be sold commercially.
- LTE has the ability to manage fast moving mobiles and supports multi cast and broadband cast stream. IP based network architechure, called the evolved packet core and designed to replace the GPRS core network. The LTE standard cover range of many differents bands both a frequency and band number each of which was designeted.
- GSM was deployed to carry real time services in a circuit manner with data services only possible over a cercuit switched modem connection with very low data rates. The steps towards an IP based packet switched solutions was taken with the evolution of GSM to GPRS using in same air interface and access method .TDMA a new access technology WCDMA was deployed to reach higher data rates in UMTS.
- The LTE access network is simply network of base stations envolved NodeB, generating a flat architecture. The driving force to furture develop LTE towards LTE-Advanced. LTE - Advanced provide higher bit rates in a cost effiecient way at the same time improved performance of cell edge.
